What is WebMail Reader?

WebMail Reader is a lightweight Windows® desktop application for accessing Roundcube webmail accounts. It provides a dedicated interface for monitoring up to eight email accounts with alerts, keeping your mail access fast, focused, and always visible on your desktop.

Do I need to install WebMail Reader?

No. WebMail Reader is a portable application. Simply unzip the file to any local folder and run WebMailReader.exe. No installation or administrative privileges required.

How many accounts can I monitor?

You can configure and monitor up to 8 separate webmail accounts simultaneously. Each account appears in its own tab for easy switching.

How often does it check for new mail?

WebMail Reader automatically checks each account for new mail every 60 seconds with user option to check at 30 min and 60min intervals. When new mail arrives, you'll see a visual alert (blinking orange dot) and hear a soft audio tone if notifications are enabled for that account.

How do I backup my settings?

All settings are stored in a portable accounts.json file within the WebMailReader\config\ folder. Simply copy this file to a safe location like a USB drive, network share, or cloud folder. You can restore it anytime or transfer it to another machine.

Can I use WebMail Reader on multiple machines?

Yes. Copy the entire WebMailReader folder to any local drive on another machine. Your accounts.json file travels with it, so all your settings transfer automatically. No re-entry needed.

Is WebMail Reader secure?

WebMail Reader is a desktop application that connects only to your configured Roundcube servers. Your passwords are stored locally in the accounts.json file. The application does not send data to third-party services or track your activity.

Can I change the alert tone?

Yes. there are 5 build in to choose from per account. Each can have it's own sound. Access this in your settings window and change at any time or turn off for silent notice only.

Are instructions included?

When you extract the file, the folder will contain a README.txt and User_Guide.pdf file. Don't touch other files but is you like you may move those elsewwhere.
